Redesigned as a single molded piece, the new AbMat utilizes a medical-grade Polyurethane foam noted for its antibacterial properties and closed cell skin, which prevents the absorption of sweat/moisture. This foam helps sustain the structural integrity of the AbMat’s arch, and it’s easier to clean; making it well suited to commercial gyms. For the user, the proprietary foam blend also produces a mat that’s softer to the touch, but more firm when in use.

Positioned under the lower back, the contoured AbMat enables a full extension of the abdominals at the beginning of a sit-up by tilting the spine, which is not possible on a flat surface. It also stabilizes the pelvis as you rise up, allowing the abs to fully contract. The result is a more efficient and complete core training of the abdominal, oblique, and back muscles.

In the traditional off-the-floor sit-up, the feet are anchored and the hip flexors do much of the work. The back is arched in an unsafe position and momentum is what finishes the movement. With the AbMat, a proper sit up can be done with a neutral spine and without momentum, enabling a more complete range of motion and more effective conditioning.

Invented in 1997 by respected strength coach Fred Koch, the AbMat has always been manufactured exclusively in America. This new model measures 14.5" L x 11.75” W x 2.75” H and weighs just 2.2 LBS, making it a portable, go-anywhere training tool. Along with its updated single-mold, closed-cell foam construction, this AbMat also features a textured black finish, a non-skid base, an embossed AbMat logo, and exclusive Rogue branding in white.

Proper spine position makes a good form sit-up easy for beginners to learn and execute, while adjusting pad direction and arm position can create enough load to make the movement challenging for advanced core training.
