The Rogue Invitational has a reputation for bespoke, themed check-in experiences: Cowboy boots and belt buckles. Baseball jerseys and bats. Custom guitars and guitar hero. Like everything they make, Rogue Fitness doesn’t go the extra mile — they go the extra ten. In its sixth year, taking place in Europe for the first time, Rogue is issuing every athlete an authentic, custom made tartan kilt.
Properly kilted in the national dress, the Legends take turns enjoying the national pastime — golf. There is no leaderboard for the virtual long drive competition, but we are very much keeping score. The high score is 361 yards when Dan Bailey 🇺🇸 steps up to the tee, winds up, and clobbers the ball 372 yards. It lands on the fake roof of the fake house at the back of the simulator, which is apparently unprecedented. “Maybe more hips and less biceps, Dan?” cracks Kristan Clever 🇺🇸. “Story of my CrossFit career,” says Dan wryly, then kisses his bicep.
When it’s his turn, Ben Smith 🇺🇸 opens with a promising drive. “How close to Dan was that?” he asks the moment the ball lands. “Thirteen yards,” someone provides. “I got that,” Ben nods, teeing up again. “Gotta beat Dan, you know.” But it’s not in the cards. The harder he hits the ball, it seems, the shorter it lands. “I get worse the more I play,” Ben sighs.
But it’s not over yet — the boys will tee off again during tonight’s VIP Legends Happy Hour. If you’re in Aberdeen tonight, buy a ticket and come cheer them on.
