Rich Froning
As the winner of four consecutive CrossFit Games men's titles (2011-2014), Rich Froning dominated the title of “Fittest Man on Earth” like no one before him. The former firefighter from Cookeville, Tennessee, first took up CrossFit in 2009 and made his Games debut a year later, finishing second overall. From that point forward, the 5’9”, 195LB Froning defeated a growing pool of determined challengers to remain at the top of his sport. Even after stepping away from the individual competition, Rich has still found his way to the top of the Games podium SIX more times as the captain of CrossFit Mayhem Freedom, champions of the team competition in 2015-2016 and 2018-2022. If you’re doing the math, that’s a grand total of 10 titles in all.
During his time as a Rogue athlete, Froning has helped develop his own line of Signature Series gear, including the Rogue Froning Barbell, Medballs, and Speed Rope, as well as original t-shirts and apparel featuring the Froning *R logo. His 2013 book, First: What It Takes to Win, shares many of his methods for success, including his spiritual drive, strict workout schedule, and not-so-strict diet. His story is also told in the 2015 documentary, Froning.
Rich currently lives in Cookeville with his wife Hillary and their three children. His family-run business, Froning Farms, produced bison snacks as a natural source of protein.
