- Look at your floor layout and ceiling height and pick a room that has the best flow and space to easily move around in. Most often this will be your garage, basement, or in some cases a spare bedroom.
- Will what I need/want to fit? Think if you want a rack, squat stand, a place for a pull-up bar, and if you have enough space for a full length barbell or if you might need to look into one of our space saving short bars.
- Can I bolt to the floor/walls? Depending if you choose to go with a rack that may need bolted down, consider if you can or want to bolt it to the floor or if you prefer a wall-mounted unit. We have squat stand and rack options for both as well as those that don’t require any type of mounting so rest assured, we have an option to fit your needs.
- Safety - Can I safely perform the movements I want to? Most importantly, you should always be safe with any setup you choose to go with. We offer numerous safety options for your rack or stand but also be sure you have enough clearance around you for any movements that might be in your program.
- What do I need or want to include in my home gym? Think of things that are essential to your training program, like a barbell, rack or squat stand, plates, etc.
- What movements do I want to do? For example, you may not want to do muscle ups at home, but would still like to do pull-ups, so you won’t need as much space above your pull-up bar.

Do you have enough equipment that you need dedicated storage? Often in a minimalist home gym you can get away with simply stacking your gear to the side when not in use to keep things organized.
