What is HYROX?

HYROX is a fitness race that combines functional strength movements with endurance challenges. Designed for all fitness levels, from beginners to seasoned athletes, HYROX tests your strength, speed, and stamina through a series of movements within a workout, or race. Training for HYROX requires the right equipment to ensure you’re prepared for the race’s unique demands. Essential tools like the Concept2 rower, sleds, and other competition-standard equipment can make a significant difference in your performance, enhancing both your upper and lower body strength and endurance.

What is the HYROX Workout?

HYROX races follow a standard format featuring eight workouts interspersed with 1 kilometer runs. The workouts include rowing, sled pushing and pulling, burpee broad jumps, farmers carries, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. Each workout is designed to test different aspects of your fitness, from cardiovascular endurance to muscular strength and agility. Understanding the race format, standards, and equipment used is crucial for effective training and performance on race day.

HYROX Equipment

Here at Rogue, we offer a wide range of equipment tailored to meet the needs of HYROX athletes. Here’s a look at the key pieces of gear to get you race ready:

Concept2 Rower: The Concept2 rower is renowned for its quality and performance. It's the top choice for HYROX training due to its easy-to-use monitor, low maintenance, and exceptional durability. Suitable for all fitness levels, it provides a comprehensive cardiovascular workout that is part of the HYROX race.

Kettlebells: Rogue's kettlebells are essential for effective HYROX training. Available in various weights and coatings, they offer versatility for numerous exercises beyond the farmer carries portion of the HYROX race, such as swings, goblet squats, and Turkish get-ups. Each type of kettlebell we offer is designed to deliver optimal grip and durability, ensuring they stand up to the toughest workouts.

Medicine Balls: Rogue’s medicine balls are ideal for HYROX training, particularly for wall balls which are included in HYROX races. These medicine balls feature reinforced double seams on heavier variants, ensuring they can withstand high-volume workouts. Beyond wall balls, medicine balls can be used for core exercises, agility training, and partner drills, adding variety to your training regimen.

Treadmills: While not mandatory for HYROX races, a treadmill is an excellent training tool for year-round running and training for HYROX. It also gets you accustomed to using a self-powered treadmill, which is often used when a running course is not available for a HYROX race. Rogue offers a variety of treadmills, including the premium Woodway model, known for its durability and smooth performance. This allows you to maintain your running conditioning regardless of outdoor weather conditions.

Ski Erg: The Concept2 ski erg stands out for its exceptional quality, offering a full-body workout that enhances cardiovascular endurance and strength. Like the rower, it features an intuitive monitor, requires minimal maintenance, and is durable enough for the most rigorous training sessions.

Sleds: Rogue’s wide selection of sleds are perfect for strength and conditioning. Sleds can be pushed or pulled, making them ideal for the HYROX competition. Their robust designs and durability, along with features like weight trays on the Alpaca Sled for kettlebells and sandbags to be loaded, provide a versatile training tool that can be used indoors or outdoors.

Sandbags: Rogue’s sandbags are versatile training tools that allow for odd-object training and conditioning. They feature built-in funnels for easy filling, multiple handles for varied grips, and durable materials to withstand intense training sessions. These sandbags can be used for lunges, as seen in HYROX races, carries, and cleans, adding a functional strength element to your workouts.
